A Common Way to Replace Lost Teeth

There are different types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to loosen them or let them fall out, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

"These people deserve 5 stars for professionalism. I always had unreasonable pain with partial dentures in the past. But when I went to Bay View Dental, they identified the problem, knew what to do, and gave me affordable payment options I never had before. I'm thrilled!"

Multiple Options Available for Dentures

Dentures are used to replace multiple missing teeth in the mouth to help a patient be able to speak and chew. Dentures are fitted to go over or around whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. A partial denture is made by the lab with plastic and metal to replace any missing teeth the entire arch has. A full denture is used to replace the entire arch and is made with all plastic.

Dentures are made in a series of appointments. The first two are making impressions for the lab and picking out shapes and color of the teeth and gums. The third appointment is to look at the denture made in wax to make sure the patient is pleased with their decisions before the final product is made. The last appointment is receiving the dentures, doing minor adjustments and giving the patient directions on how to properly care for their new teeth.

In the course of the first few months of using their new denture, the patient may need to return for a few quick adjustment appointments. But once accustomed to the dentures, all normal functionality and appearance return, and one just carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.
